The Region
Provence is famous for spectacular views, rustic towns, and great food and wine. The village of Sault provides a wonderful base for exploring this beautiful setting.
Sault is an old village with a beautiful restored central church, open public squares and quaint cafés and shops. The weekly market featuring local products such as lavender honey has been held since the early 1500s.
The village sits on a high ridge overlooking woodlands as well as large lavender fields and wheat fields in the wide valley below. Further along the ridge sit the remains of an ancient fortified castle. Mountains ring the valley, including nearby Mont Ventoux, a fixture on the racing route of the Tour Dauphiné Libéré, and frequently the Tour de France as well.
This wide variety of terrain offers many activities - exploring caves and canyons, hiking, horseback riding and more. It particularly makes Sault the perfect place for cyclists of every level to enjoy Provence, whether on a relaxing scenic route on the plateau or an expert climb up Ventoux.
The area offers everything you could want in a vacation, bike tour, training or day trip.
